Weekly Updates

Hello Parents,

I hope you are having a fun long weekend.

*Literacy Objectives:

Phonics/spelling- Recognizing and decoding words with the consonant /vowel/consonant spelling pattern with short and long vowels

Memory word focus- said, only, you, out, of, here

Reading fluently- Read and understanding informational text/ read and understand new vocabulary

Writing- plan and write informational paragraph

Please remember to have students practice reading their book bags books several times each week and practice sight words nightly. Each Wednesday students get new book bag books and are tested on sight words please send book bags and sight word books in each Wednesday!

*Math Objectives: Module 2,Topic B Students relate counting on to subtraction in a couple of ways; students will begin with word problems calling on them to subtract 9 from 10, then move to modeling subtraction of 9 to teen numbers with manipulatives, then 5-groups drawings, and finally number bonds). Students will begin to realize that there is both simplicity and efficiency when they decompose the teen number into 10 and some ones, subtract the 9 from 10, and finally add the 1 left over with the some ones.

Students should be practicing their math facts each night for the “Bubble gum tests”

  • Student Wellness focus: cont. Accountability- we are discussing: neat handwriting/ work completion in a timely manner/ overall accountability around the school!

  • Social Studies: My apologies-last week and continuing this week we are learning about Martin Luther King Jr.. (We will move to paper making take 2 nest week)

We are a NUT FREE classroom. All snacks must be NUT FREE!!!
